Basic materials shares gain

Basic materials stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 14.07 points or 0.52% at 2712.45 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Grasim Industries Ltd (up 3.65%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (up 3.45%),Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 2.82%),Seya Industries Ltd (up 2.65%),National Peroxide Ltd (up 2.49%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Transpek Industry Ltd (up 2.38%), Mukand Ltd (up 2.23%), International Paper APPM Ltd (up 1.79%), Prism Johnson Ltd (up 1.68%), and Coromandel International Ltd (up 1.64%).

On the other hand, Uniply Industries Ltd (down 5%), Rushil Decor Ltd (down 4.31%), and Pokarna Ltd (down 3.97%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 189.44 or 0.46% at 40983.25.

The Nifty 50 index was up 50.9 points or 0.42% at 12106.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 8.32 points or 0.06% at 13568.89.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 0.76 points or 0.02% at 4762.54.

On BSE,770 shares were trading in green, 716 were trading in red and 109 were unchanged.
