Metal shares fall

Metal stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 55.08 points or 0.59% at 9310.89 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 1.63%), Vedanta Ltd (down 1.6%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 1.46%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.86%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.78%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.53%), and Coal India Ltd (down 0.35%).

On the other hand, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 1.91%), NMDC Ltd (up 0.91%), and Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.3%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 59.38 or 0.15% at 40299.26.

The Nifty 50 index was up 15.2 points or 0.13% at 11872.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 9.77 points or 0.07% at 13135.5.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.81 points or 0.21% at 4619.32.

On BSE,861 shares were trading in green, 1419 were trading in red and 193 were unchanged.
