Net inflow of Rs 720.35 crore on 26 May 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 720.35 crore on Thursday, 26 May 2016, higher than net inflow of Rs 509.55 crore during the preceding trading session on 25 May 2016. The net inflow of Rs 720.35 crore into the secondary equity markets on 26 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6500.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 5780.45 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex surged 485.51 points or 1.88% to settle at 26,366.68, its highest closing level since 4 November 2015.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 917.90 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 26 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 13734.91 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 577.43 crore in this month so far (till 26 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 671.24 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
