Net sales of Rs 785.25 crore on 5 April 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 785.25 crore on 5 April 2016 compared with net purchases of Rs 282.81 on 4 April 2016. The net outflow of Rs 785.25 crore from the secondary equity markets on 5 April 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3273.56 crore and gross sales of Rs 4058.81 crore. On 5 April 2016, the Sensex fell 516.06 points or 2.03% to settle at 24,883.59, its lowest closing level since 17 March 2016.
There was a net outflow of Rs 145.35 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' on 5 April 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.07 crore and gross sales of Rs 145.42 crore.
FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 3799.14 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 5 April 2016). FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 20720.56 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 8268.46 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 April 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net inflow of Rs 184.87 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 5 April 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 422.36 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 210.64 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 April 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
