Net outflow of Rs 747.73 crore on 3 May 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 747.73 crore on 3 May 2016, compared with net inflow of Rs 348.52 crore on 2 May 2016. The net outflow of Rs 747.73 crore from the secondary equity markets on 3 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3577.10 crore and gross sales of Rs 4324.83 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 207.27 points or 0.81% to settle at 25,229.70, its lowest closing level since 12 April 2016.
There was an inflow of Rs 0.05 crore into 'primary markets & others' category on 2 May 2016 which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.05 crore and zero gross sales.
FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 432.52 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 3 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 12384.49 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 3 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 17.72 crore in this month so far (till 3 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 111.53 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 3 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
