IMD Says Cumulative Monsoon Rainfall 6% Above Long Period Average

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated in a latest update that for the country as a whole, cumulative rainfall during this year's southwest monsoon season upto 25th September, 2019 is above Long Period Average or LPA by 6%. In coming week, large excess rainfall likely over Bihar and adjoining areas of east Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gangetic west Bengal, above normal rainfall over Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, interior Maharashtra, north Odisha, Gujarat, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Near normal rainfall likely over the rest of the country, outside Andaman & Nicobar islands, Arunachal Pradesh and south Andhra Pradesh where the cumulative weekly rainfall is likely to be below normal.
