Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 279.43 points or 4.48% at 6510.07 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 7.01%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 5.98%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 4.96%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 4.8%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 4.78%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were JSW Steel Ltd (up 4.57%), NMDC Ltd (up 3.05%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 2.75%), Coal India Ltd (up 2.68%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.88%).

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 831.32 or 2.54% at 33551.48.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 246.5 points or 2.58% at 9799.85.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 177.78 points or 1.62% at 11152.94.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 72.47 points or 1.88% at 3935.72.

On BSE,1184 shares were trading in green, 349 were trading in red and 80 were unchanged.
