Metal shares rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 177.78 points or 1.83% at 9867.12 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 3.91%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.7%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.61%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 2.45%),Vedanta Ltd (up 1.78%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 1.78%), NMDC Ltd (up 1.37%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.78%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.49%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.81%), moved lower.

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 429.05 or 1.05% at 41408.67.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 127.7 points or 1.06% at 12159.2.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 87.8 points or 0.59% at 14864.13.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 26.15 points or 0.51% at 5138.7.

On BSE,1092 shares were trading in green, 449 were trading in red and 60 were unchanged.
