VIX spurts 3%The Nifty February 2020 futures were at 12,048.95, a premium of 17.45 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 12,031.50 in the cash market.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index was down 66.85 points or 0.55% to 12,031.50.
Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 9.19 lakh crore compared with Rs 8.06 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, was up 3.16% to 14.1825.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 27 February 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 27.56 lakh contracts at the 12,500 strike price. Maximum put OI of 34.74 lakh contracts was seen at 12,000 strike price.
The option chain indicates that Nifty will hover between 12,000 and 12,500 in the February 2020 series.
State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Steel and Reliance Industries (RIL) were top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE for February expiry.
SBI February 2020 futures were at 319.55, compared with spot closing price of 318.50. Tata Steel February 2020 futures were at 443.80, compared with spot closing price of 443.15. RIL February 2020 futures were at 1,443.50, compared with spot closing price of 1442.20.
