Pharma stocks buck weak market trend

The Nifty Pharma index jumped 3.82% to 7,295.20, outperforming the other sectoral indices on NSE.

Lupin (up 11.37%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 8.62%), Cipla (up 8.23%), Cadila Healthcare (up 5.02%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (up 4.83%), Wockhardt (up 4.44%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (up 2.19%), Abbott India (up 1.03%), Divi's Laboratories (up 1.02%), Ipca Laboratories (up 0.31%) and Alkem Laboratories (up 0.25%) surged.

The Nifty Pharma index has fallen 8% in last one month compared with a 28.43% drop in Nifty 50 index.

Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 index was down 164.05 points or 1.99% at 8,089.75.
