Rs. 17,978 cr Spent on Schemes of Ministry of Women & Child Development in 2013-14

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has spent/released funds to the tune of Rs. 17,978.51 crore on schemes for the welfare and development of women and children in the country during the financial year 2013-14. This is against a total budget allocation of Rs. 20,550 crore for the same year. The schemes include both the Central Sector Schemes as well as Central Sponsored Schemes. Although the total amount sanctioned for Central Sector Schemes was Rs. 614.00 crore during the financial year 2013-14, it was reduced to Rs. 322 crore under the revised estimates out of which a total of Rs. 288.12 crore was spent on the Central Sector Schemes in the same year. Under Centrally Sponsored Schemes, an amount of Rs. 19,936 crore was sanctioned which was reduced to Rs. 17,878 crore in the revised estimates and total amount spent was Rs. 17,690.39 crore under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

Under the Central Sector Schemes for women and child development, funds are spent mainly on Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme, Working Women's Hostels, Support to Training and Employment Programme for women (STEP), Rashtriya Mahila Kosh, assistance for construction of Shelter Homes for women, Priyadarshani Scheme among others. Under Centrally Sponsored Schemes, funds are disbursed to States for Schemes like ICDS, NNM, SABLA, SAKSHAM, SAAHAS, IGMSY among others.
