Telecom shares fall

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 18.13 points or 1.92% at 924.75 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 13.28%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 7.52%),Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 5.54%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.27%),Reliance Communications Ltd (down 1.47%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were ITI Ltd (down 1.42%), OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.27%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.75%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 0.62%).

On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.97%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.85%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.09%) moved up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 197.48 or 0.51% at 38822.91.

The Nifty 50 index was down 63.35 points or 0.55% at 11519.25.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 65.72 points or 0.5% at 13138.59.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 13.47 points or 0.3% at 4497.63.

On BSE,883 shares were trading in green, 1358 were trading in red and 141 were unchanged.
