Telecom stocks edge lower

Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 18.99 points or 1.88% at 993.59 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.99%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.11%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.77%),Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 3.44%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 3%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 2.32%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 2.3%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 0.32%), and Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.23%).

On the other hand, OnMobile Global Ltd (up 2.02%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.68%), and Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (up 1.44%) turned up.

 

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 313.44 or 0.82% at 38527.91.

The Nifty 50 index was up 86.45 points or 0.76% at 11427.6.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 4.77 points or 0.04% at 12782.82.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 14.62 points or 0.34% at 4353.53.

On BSE,1012 shares were trading in green, 1283 were trading in red and 166 were unchanged.
