Telecom stocks edge lower
Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 25.03 points or 1.88% at 1304.46 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 9.16%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.51%),GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.94%),Reliance Communications Ltd (down 2.38%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 1.81%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were HFCL Ltd (down 1.43%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.03%), and ITI Ltd (down 0.31%).
On the other hand, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 4.03%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 2.49%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.12%) turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 249.48 or 0.83% at 30445.65.
The Nifty 50 index was up 82.75 points or 0.93% at 8961.85.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 55.91 points or 0.54% at 10411.09.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.72 points or 0.65% at 3688.47.
On BSE,1063 shares were trading in green, 1043 were trading in red and 144 were unchanged.
