Twenty Taliban militants surrendered to the government in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, police said on Sunday.
"Taliban militants under Mawlawi Ikramudin gave up fighting and handed over their weapons to police in Faizabad on Saturday," Xinhua news agency quoted a police official as saying.
The surrender took place amid heavy fighting between security forces and Taliban fighters in Raghistan district where dozens of people from both the sides have been killed.
