Four persons were killed and over two dozen injured on Saturday when a private bus fell into a roadside ditch in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, police said.
The bus, carrying 60 passengers, was headed to Baberu from Banda when the accident took place on the Banda-Baberu road near the Murwal village.
District Magistrate D.P. Giri told IANS that prima facie the driver swerved the speeding vehicle in a bid to save a cyclist, following which he lost control.
Baberu MLA Chandra Pal Kushwaha as well as senior district officials rushed to the spot to oversee rescue and relief operations.
