Allied Blenders acquires distilleries in Bengal

Liquor baron Kishore Chhabria's Allied Blenders & Distillers (ABD) has acquired 100 percent stake in Wales Distilleries in West Bengal.

Wales Distilleries Pvt Ltd, located at Kalyani in Nadia district, is a modern distillery with a state of the art blending and bottling plant.

The bottling plant has a capacity of 1 lakh cases per month and ABD has plans to upscale it to 1.5 lacs cases a month shortly, a company release said Thursday.

Speaking on the development, ABD executive vice chairman and CEO Deepak Roy said: "This association will further strengthen our presence in east India and is a first in a series of moves that will fuel our expansion plans."
