Builder's killer held after shootout in Ghaziabad

A criminal who had shot dead a builder was arrested in Ghaziabad after a shootout in which he and a policemen were injured, police said on Saturday.
A .32 bore pistol and two cartridges were seized from Mohammad Saif, Superintendent of Police (City) Akash Tomar said.
Following a tip-off about the contract killer's presence in Ghaziabad, police said it increased patrolling in the area on Friday night. Police came across the criminal riding a motorcycle with another person, and asked him to surrender. However, he fired at the police and tried to flee.
In the subsequent firing, the Constable sustained a gunshot injury and Saif shot in the leg. While he was overpowered by police, his accomplice fled the spot.
Both the injured were taken to a nearby hospital where both were declared out of danger.

The SP said that during initial questioning, the criminal confessed to the contract killing of Ghaziabad-based builder S.P. Singh in his office on November 9.
