Elderly couple robbed in Delhi

Six robbers broke into an elderly couple's house here early on Friday after breaking the window panes below the air-conditioner and fled with Rs.7 lakh and jewellery, police said.

The robbery took place at the two-storey house of Amit Gupta, 70, in Shakti Nagar area near Delhi University after the criminals tied him up with a rope along with his wife.

The police were alerted only around 7 a.m., almost four hours after the robbery, a police officer said.

The couple lived alone. Their three daughters are married.
