Five killed in China shoe workshop collapse

Beijing, Jan 23 (IANS At least five people were crushed to death and two injured when a building rented by a small leather shoe factory as workshop in southwest China collapsed Tuesday night, authorities said Wednesday .

The accident took place Tuesday evening when 13 workers were having meals on the first floor of a three-storey building in a village in the Chongqing city's Nan'an district , Xinhua quoted the district government in a statement.

The rescue operation ended Wednesday and among seven buried, two were pulled out alive and five were already dead.
