President Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday congratulated Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on the arrival of the youngest member of the royal family.
"The news of the safe arrival of the youngest member of the royal family has been received with delight and happiness in India," the president said in a message to the queen.
"On this joyous occasion, on behalf of the people and the government and on my own behalf, I would like to convey my heartfelt congratulations to their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. We wish happiness and good health to the Royal couple and to the newborn Prince."
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to her first child, a boy, Monday.
The child will be third in line to the British throne after his grandfather Charles, Prince of Wales, and father William, Duke of Cambridge.
