The Lucknow Frontier of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which mans the porous India-Nepal border, celebrated its 54th Foundation Day here on Wednesday.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Women Welfare Minister who was the chief guest, lauded the work done by the force.
Inspector General Alok Sharma apprised the guests of the work being undertaken by the SSB and said the force was also educating people in the border areas on various government schemes.
He asaid it was challenging to curb trans-border crime, smuggling and anti-national activities due to the open porous border.
Eleven officials and 18 juniors of the Lucknow division won awards on the occasion.
