Syria's air defences intercept missiles over Damascus

The Syrian air defences were triggered on Tuesday evening by what appeared to be a missile attack around the capital Damascus, state TV reported.

A series of explosions were heard in the capital and residents saw the flaring of air-defence missiles chasing unknown targets in the sky, Xinhua news agency reported.

The state TV reported that Syrian air defences were intercepting a number of missiles in the surroundings of Damascus, without providing further details.
