Dinner to reconciliation

The squabbling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh, were invited to a dinner by the party’s prime ministerial candidate, LK Advani, the same day their differences came out in the open. Jaitley had boycotted crucial party meetings to lodge his protest over Singh appointing a businessman as election in-charge of Assam and the north-east. An embarrassed Advani tried to mediate between them. Next day, however, Jaitley did get back to work at the BJP headquarters but his sullen mood and silence said it all.
