Lights, action...cut

Indian cinema’s “timeless leading man”, Dev Anand, was known for the many leading ladies he launched to enduring fame under his Navketan Films banner. In fact, the movie production company’s website has an entire page dedicated to Anand’s “discoveries” that includes Kalpana Kartik, Zeenat Aman, Tabu and Shabana Azmi, among other actors, directors, lyricists and so on. An interesting omission from the list, however, is Tina Munim, now wife of industrialist Anil Ambani. Anand first noticed Munim at the International Teen Princess Contest in Aruba at which she represented India. The actor-director later launched Munim’s film career with the movie Des Pardes and went on to cast her in many of the films – Lootmaar and Man Pasand – in which he played the lead actor.
