The proportions the Jan Lok Pal issue had taken became evident when Defence Minister A K Antony, who was to induct an indigenously built warship into the Indian Navy, had to cancel his trip to Mumbai and the Indian Navy let it be known informally that Anna Hazare was more important than dedicating a ship to the Indian Navy. The ship was eventually commissioned by Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma. Antony is part of the four-member advisory committee that is advising Rahul Gandhi in the absence of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. So, he could not leave Delhi.
