Congress President Rahul Gandhi will visit Chhattisgarh on May 17 and 18. The highlight of his visit is a roadshow-cum-bike rally. He will address public meetings at Sitapur and Gaurella-Pendra. The AICC Chief will interact with booth-level officebearers in the ongoing ‘Sankalpa Shivirs’ at Durg and Bilaspur divisions. On May 18, he will participate in the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan symposium at Raipur. Chhattisgarh is due to go to the polls later this year.
A ‘key’ visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Punjab on May 18 to hand over keys of flats to allottees under the slum rehabilitation scheme in Maloya. A total of 4,960 flats have been built under the scheme. The Congress is in power in Punjab, so the PM’s visit is expected to be contentious. On 19 May, Modi will be in Vaishno Devi to inaugurate the Tarakote Marg, an alternate track to the shrine meant only for pedestrians. Ponies will not be permitted on this track.
