1 dead in truck-car collision

A 56-year-old man was killed while three others, including a woman, were injured when their car collided with a truck on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road, police said today.

The incident happened yesterday near Khati village when the victims were returning to Phagwara after paying obeisance at a religious place, they said.

Nirmal Singh, a resident of nearby Khothran village, wbo was driving the car died on the spot, police said.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital, they said.

A case has been registered against the truck driver who fled from the site, police said, adding that the vehicle has been impounded.
