11-yr-old dies after being hit by dumper

An 11-year-old boy today died after being hit by a dumper in Kalyanpur area of the city, police said.

Circle Officer, DSP Jitendra Shrivastava, said Sahil Viswakarma was going to buy milk when a dumper hit him from behind, leading to his death on the spot.

Enraged locals, vandalised the dumper and blocked the road. The police officers later pacified them after assurances that a strict action will be taken against the driver.

The locals also caught the driver and handed him over to police, circle officers said.

The driver was being interrogated, he said, adding police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
