16-year-old girl allegedly commits suicide

Upset after being scolded by parents, a 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in suburban Powai, police said today.

The girl, a class 10 student, ended her life by jumping into the Powai lake yesterday, police said.

The body was fished out by police and taken to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead, a senior official attached to the Powai police station said.

The girl was upset after her parents scolded her for talking to some people, he said. Further probe is on.
