1800 athletes to take part in inter-zone JK Police sports Meet

"A record 1800 athletes, including 400 women shall compete in 12 different events of annual inter-zone sports meet of Jammu and Kashmir Police starting at different venues, here from April 9," Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda told media persons here.

The DGP said that the four-day event shall be declared open in a colourful function to be held amidst march past by the contingents form six participating zones at Police Parade and Advance Trainings Gulshan Ground, here.

He said that apart from regular events, this time a competition for Gazetted Officers was also being organized in tabler tennis, lawn tennis, badminton and shooting.

 

The Police chief said that for successful conduct of the event, different committees have been set up under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed and Law and Order, K Rajendra Kumar.

All the wings of the police -- Armed, CID, Telecom, Crime, Traffic, Security, SSG, Railways, SDRF (CD, HGDs) will take part in the championship, he said.

The DGP said that as many as nine -- basketball, volleyball, tug-or-war, football, kabaddi and boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, football, archery, kho-kho, handball and hockey will take place.
