19-year-old kills girlfriend, attempts suicide

A 19-year-old man killed his girlfriend by slitting her throat and then tried to commit suicide by hanging himself in Rajasthan's Dausa district, the police said today.

Dilip Meena slit the throat of a minor girl when she came to his residence in Gayatri Nagar yesterday. He later attempted suicide, but he was saved by his family members, Investigating Officer Vishambhar Dayal told PTI.

He said that following a complaint girl's uncle, a case has been registered against Meena under relevant sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The accused has been detained and being interrogated, the officer said.
