In a crackdown on illegal firework units, two persons were arrested by the police from Bada Bazara area here e for allegedly manufacturing fireworks illegally.
During a raid conducted yesterday, police also seized huge quantities of fireworks and explosive materials from godowns of the arrested persons, said Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Berhampur, Shantanu Das.
The accused persons were identified as Kartika Das of Shankarapur street and Asmit Prusty of Patra Sahi here.
The raids were conducted in the wake of the explosion in the firework manufacturing unit at Itamati in Nayagarh district recently which claimed at least seven lives.
The raids on illegal manufacture and storing of fireworks and sale of explosive materials would continue, added SDPO.
