2 boys drown in canal

Two brothers, aged 4 and 6,

drowned in Hindon Canal in Indirapuram area here when the car in which they were travelling in along with their mother and maternal uncle, skidded into it today afternoon.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Prateek (6) and Kartik (4), who along with their mother Vinita and maternal uncle Vineet were returning to their home in Khoda Colony after attending a marriage ceremony in Meerut.

Vineet was driving the car. When they reached near Hindon Canal, the car suddenly skid and fell into it. While Vineet and Vinita were rescued from the canal, the two boys could not be saved, a senior police officer said.
 

Their bodies were later recovered from the canal, and police is investigating the case, he said.
