Police today arrested two persons who were allegedly members of a gang of auto-lifters active in Delhi-NCR region.

According to police, the arrested men used to loot trucks at gunpoint and also flee with goods loaded in the vehicles.

A senior police official claimed the duo, identified as Shokeen and Aftab, residents of Baghpat, have confessed to their involvement in a number of cases relating to vehicle-loot and vehicle-theft.

Police said they got information that two vehicle-robbers, wanted in several cases, were coming towards Kothwali area and laid a trap, after which Shokeen and Aftab were arrested.

Police recovered a truck laden with building material, bearing a Haryana registration number, from their possession.

Police had been looking for them for nearly a year.

"We are now interrogating both the accused about their accomplices involved in the crime," said the police official.
