Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured when a speeding SUV hit their motorcycle in Gauriganj area here, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday evening near the Panga curve when the SUV hit the motorcycle, leaving rider Awdesh (20) and one of the pillion rider Anil Kumar (22), both residents of Panga village, dead, SHO Gauriganj R P Singh said.
Kandhai (19), another pillion rider, was seriously injured in the incident, he said, adding he was rushed to District Hospital Gauriganj from where the doctors, after initial treatment, referred him to a trauma centre in Lucknow.
Kandhai hails from Dihwa village.
Police said the trio was travelling without helmets.
The driver left the SUV and fled the scene of the accident, they said, adding the police later seized the vehicle.
