20-year-old Army jawan commits suicide

A 20-year-old Army jawan allegedly committed suicide at the Deolali Camp near here, police said today.

Swapnil Kailash Ghodekar, newly recruited as a gunner, allegedly hanged himself from a tree in the physical training ground yesterday. He was declared dead upon arrival at the military hospital, Deolali Camp police said.

Ghodekar hailed from Pabal in Shirur tehsil of Pune district. The reason for his extreme step was not yet clear, they added.
