29 fire outbreaks, 9 burn injuries in Ahmedabad on Diwali

As many as 29 fire-related incidents were reported here in the past two days during Diwali celebrations even as nine persons suffered burn injuries, officials said today.

Across Gujarat, 33 cases of fire burns were reported in the past two days, data collected by Gujarat Emergency Management and Research Institute (GEMRI) showed.

Of 29 incidents of fire here, 17 were caused due to crackers, though no loss of life was reported, officials of Fire department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation said.

"We received 29 fire calls during Diwali celebrations, of which 17 were caused due to crackers and most of these cases were minor in nature and were controlled easily, with no death reported," they said.
 

As many as 742 cases of injuries and health complications were also reported here in the past two days, which included nine cases of burns and 64 cases of respiratory complications, GEMRI data showed.

Of these, 102 cases were pregnancy-related, 31 heart related issues including three heart attacks, and 24 cases of unconsciousness, among cases of vehicular and non-vehicular trauma, assault, epilepsy, etc.
