Three members of a family were killed in Uttar Pradesh today in a rain-related incident while another death was reported in Bihar where the threat of floods reappeared.
Light rainfall was also recorded in parts of Delhi early this morning with the minimum temperature settling at 26.4 degrees Celsius.
Three family members were killed in Pure village in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi district when their mud house caved in due to heavy rains early this morning while they were asleep, police said.
With south-west monsoon being normal in Uttar Pradesh, light to moderate rain and thunder showers occurred at many places in the state since yesterday.
Incessant rain in North Bihar resulting in increase in water level of Ganga has brought back the threat of floods in some districts even as one person died in the fresh spell of inundation.
Floods have engulfed 14 districts of Bihar mainly due to excessive rains in Terai region of Nepal resulting in death of nearly 100 people. The flood threat had subsided and for past three days officially, no district was under flood.
But, today's statement from state Disaster Management Department said Munger district was affected by flood.
One relief camp has started functioning, catering to the need of 300 displaced people, it said.
River Ganga flew above danger level at Digha ghat, Gandhi ghat, Hathidah in Patna, Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur, Punpun river in Sripalpur, Budhi Gandak in Khagaria and Kosi in Baltara in Khagaria district.
Due to rise in water levels in Ganga, water has entered in riverine areas of Patna, Buxar, Bhojpur, Munger, Saran and Vaishali district. NDRF personnel have been put on alert.
In Rajasthan, heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Bharatpur division and heavy rainfall in Jaipur division since yesterday.
Light to moderate rainfall also occurred at many places in Jaipur and Bharatpur division, at isolated places in Bikaner division while the weather remained dry in rest of the state's divisions, Met department said.
Kathumar in Alwar recorded maximum of 14 cm of rain followed by Nagar in Bharatpur where 12 cm rainfall occurred. Several other places also received up to 11 cm of rain till this morning since yesterday.
The department has issued heavy rainfall warning for isolated places in east Rajasthan tomorrow.
Maximum temperatures stayed above normal level in most parts of Punjab and Haryana despite rains in few places.
