Rail Minister Mallikarjun Kharge today inaugurated the first 4,500 HP dual cab freight diesel engine WDG4D 'Vijay', which was designed by the Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) factory here.
Kharge, along with Railway Board President Arunendra Kumar and DLW General Manager BP Khare and other officials, inspected the driver cab of the engine.
The engine comes with full breadth control console, TFT based dials, microprocessor controlled brake, air conditioned cab, IPDM cable ceiling system, task lighting for crew, and will run at 82 kilometre per hour with 59 BOXN load.

Praising DLW, Kharge said the diesel factory in Varanasi was not only involved in making new diesel engines but was also working to improve technological requirements of other sections of the Railways.
On the occasion, Kharge also announced an award of Rs 20 lakh for DLW workers.
