4 arrested in Rajasthan for smuggling camels

Four people have been arrested here for allegedly smuggling 16 camels to a slaughter house in Uttar Pradesh, police said today.

"The camels were rescued from a truck in Lathi area last evening during a checking on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer road. They were being smuggled to a slaughter house," SP Rajiv Pachar said.

Those arrested were identified as Ahsan Ali, Momin, Arif and Adin Khan, all residents of Uttar Pradesh, he added.

Camel is one of the two state animals of Rajasthan.
