Four camps of poachers were busted and arms along with ammunition seized in Assam by a joint operation team of Police and Special Task Force today.
On receiving specific information the team led by Deben Borah, Officer-in-Charge of Jokholabondha Police Station busted two camps at Burapahar area of Kaziranga National Park and two others in adjacent Karbi Anglong district, KNP official Manoranjan Barman said.
The team also recovered a .303 rifle, .22 rifle with 26 rounds of ammunition, two silencers meant for both the rifles kept buried beside the grainary in the house of notorious rhino poacher Adhon Borah in Kandhulimari village near KNP under Bokakhat Police Station, Barman said.
According to police source the Jokholabondha police team under Bora's leadership recovered Rs 28 lakh from poachers, 230 pieces of ammunition, two AK-47 and 22 .303 rifles, 15 silencers, besides nabbing 16 poachers and linkmen, including three women during the past two months.
