Five archaeological sites, including Hastinapur, will be developed as iconic places with on-site museums, Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel told the Lok Sabha on Monday.
In written reply to a question, Patel said as per the 2020-21 Union budget speech, five archeological sites would be developed as iconic sites with on-site museums at Rakhigarhi (Haryana), Hastinapur (Uttar Pradesh), Shivsagar (Assam), Dholavira (Gujarat) and Adichanallur (Tamil Nadu).
The government has proposed allocation of Rs 3,149.86 crore for the Ministry of Culture and Rs 2,547 crore to the Ministry of Tourism for 2020-21 to implement various schemes.
