5 held with fake currency notes of face value Rs 34.37 lakh

Five people have been arrested from Rajasthan's Pali district in the last six days with fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value Rs 34.27 lakh, the police said today.

In a drive against counterfeit currency notes, 1,422 notes of Rs 2,000 denomination and 5,831 notes in Rs 100 denomination were seized from the five accused along with printing machine, lamination machine and other items, Pali Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhargava said.

The accused have been identified as Dinesh Kumar Meghwal (26), Lateef Shah (20), Ravishankar Balmiki (34), Dinesh Rao (33) and Jaipal Singh (30), he said.

They have been booked under IPC sections 489 (tampering with property mark with intent to cause injury) and 489 C (possession of forged or counterfeit currency-notes or bank-notes), the police official said, adding the accused are being interrogated.
