Five people were injured in a Gram Panchayat poll-related clash at Barnawi village under Kairana police station in Shamli district, police said here today.
Six people, including Gram Pradhan, have been arrested and a case was registered against several people in this connection, they said.
Moshin and his group, opposing candidature Grampradhan Aladeen who was contesting for the post again, entered into an argument with him yesterday, police said.
It soon snowballed into a clash where five people were injured, they said, adding police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Security has been tightened in the village and extra police has been deployed to maintain law and order.
