500 kg poppy straw seized from truck, driver held

A truck driver was arrested and 500 kg of poppy straw was seized from his vehicle in Domana area of the city today, police said.

During routine checking, the police party stopped a fruit-laden truck that was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, at Domana road. During the checking, 500 kg of poppy straw, concealed in apple boxes, was seized, a police officer said.

The accused was arrested and booked under various sections of the NDPS Act, he said, adding further investigations have been initiated.
