The Bihar Assembly on Wednesday created a record of sort as 52 questions were taken up during the Question Hour.

After the Question Hour ended, BJP's Tarkishore Prasad said more than 50 queries were taken up during the hour and the majority of them were replied by the respective department's ministers.

On this, Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary said "The entire House deserves gratitude and appreciation for this. A historic 52 questions came up during question hour today. It is a matter of happiness. You all deserve greetings for this. This should recur everyday."

The first hour of a sitting of legislature is devoted to questions and this hour is called the Question Hour. It has a special significance as the members can ask queries on every aspect of administration and governmental activity.

The Assembly has been functioning smoothly for past three days.

Opposition members especially of the RJD had last week created ruckus in pre-lunch session of the Assembly that included the Question Hour. They were demanding resignation of Health Minister Mangal Pandey over deaths of over 150 children in the state especially in Muzaffarpur due to acute encephalitis syndrome (AES).

Even the Congress was not happy with the activity of the RJD, its ally.

"An agreement was reached at a meeting of leaders of the Coongress and the RJD on June 28 that Question Hour will not be disturbed as members raise issues of public importance," Congress chief whip in Assembly Rajesh Kumar had said.
