A group of six women set afire vehicles belonging to the kin of a girl, who was seriously injured and her beau stabbed to death in Dalepur village here last month in a case of honour killing, police said today.

On May 7, Punit Kumar (24) was allegedly stabbed to death while the girl, he was in a relationship with, was seriously injured by her family members, after they allegedly found them in an objectionable position. The couple had eloped and were staying separately.

The family members of the girl vacated their home in Dalepura village of the district and had shifted to another place. Some relatives of the girl returned to the village yesterday to collect the belongings of the family.

A group of six women, apparently belonging to Punit's family, on learning about the return of the girl's family members to the village, allegedly assaulted them and also set their motorcycles on fire, police said.

A case has been registered against the women for their involvement in the arson, they said.
