8-kg opium seized, five arrested

Eight kilogram opium has been seized and five persons arrested for possessing the contraband in separate cases, police said today.

SSP Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that 7-kg opium was recovered from a car during checking at a bridge in the Kotla Bajwara Rajbahaa area.

The three occupants of the car - identified as Kamaljit Singh, Parveen Kumar and Prince Sharma - have been arrested.

In another case, 500-gm opium each was seized from two accused, Rajesh Kumar and Sandeep Singh.
