80 timber scants seized; smuggler arrested

An alleged timber smuggler was today arrested here along with 80 scants in the Bhaderwah belt of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Ram Parshad was nabbed in the forest area of Bhalara and 80 timber scants were seized from him, a police official said.

A saw and an axe were also seized from him, he said.

His alleged accomplice Mohd Farooq managed to flee the spot.

A case has been registered under the Forest Act at the Bhaderwah police station, he said.
